Non Dominant hand Week 1

Using my non dominant hand forced me to learn how to hold a pencil and draw a portrait. I really like how this turned out. Even though the lines are very shaky i think this adds to show the age of the model and add texture as well as movement. I found it very difficult to change directions when drawings as my hand didn't feel naturally comfortable.

  Hand holding Objects- After practising hands i found it much easier to draw these and tried adding more detail. I still don't think I've got the hang of it as the proportions seem off. I tried to add a bit of variety to different sized objects. I want to trial different medias next.

20 minute drawing- Week 1

At the start of the lesson we got into groups and had to draw a portrait of each other. The first drawing was 20 minutes long. I felt very comfortable in this time frame and took my time to do a sketch and get all the proportions correct. I tried to keep all the details on the face yet I didn't want to offend the model by adding wrinkles or "imperfections" they may feel ashamed of. I don't feel fully happy about this drawing as i didn't add much tone or shading.
